Eyetronics Studios has been an international provider of high resolution 3D scanning services and animation-ready 3D models for over a decade. We strive to provide services that are flexible and tailored to fit within the tight timelines and budgets of our clients. Recognized as an industry pioneer in 3D scanning, we specialize in human models (head scans and body scans) with remarkable detail.
Eyetronics Studios has worked on many projects that involved the scanning and modeling of aircraft, ships, a whole array of cars, various props and even bringing stars back to life using existing footage.
3D Scanning
Eyetronics Media & Studios specializes in 3D scanning of human heads and bodies for visual effects and video games. Our strength lies in the mobility, speed and quality of the work. We can be available anywhere within 24 hours and with a setup time of less that one hour. A scan of a person takes only a few minutes, which is perfect when scanning talent on a live set, especially when they do not have a great deal of time between shots. Also, it is efficient when scanning large amounts of people. In addition to the human form, we are capable of scanning a number of other objects, such as cars, weapons, creatures, prosthetics and more. Furthermore, our extremely skilled artists are able to take the 'raw' scan data and turn it into a highly detailed mesh. They can refill the occluded areas and recreate them based on reference photography. Details captured by our scanner are enhanced and scanning artifacts (if any) are removed.
Retopologized 3D scan data
In addition to offering quick and efficient scanning services, we can also retopologize the scans based on the clients' requirements, thus making sure the result is of excellent quality and animation-ready. At this point, we are also able to enhance the scans with details such as skin pores and clothing seams, thereby dramatically increasing the overall detail of the model.
Texturing of 3D scan data
Our scanning technology captures both geometry and color information simultaneously. One high-resolution SLR camera captures all the detail while another camera records the structured light information. Our proprietary software automatically maps this information on the scan and our skilled texture artists use this as a base for creating high resolution texture maps. 4K maps are generated for head, body and props if needed.

Bioware releases new Mass Effect 3 trailer
The recent E3 convention in Los Angeles marked the preview of Bioware's third installment in their very successful franchise, Mass Effect 3. Eyetronics was called upon to deliver animation-ready, photo-realistic characters for the game, and although not scheduled for release until March of 2012, you can preview the trailer here. Initial reviews from the gaming world label the visuals in Mass Effect 3 as "first-class" and the "most gorgeous, spectacular and resonant entry in the series." As always, it was a pleasure to work with the team at Bioware, and we want to thank them for including us in the production of such an exciting project.
Dreamworks releases trailer for Fright Night
Coming to theaters in August 2011 is the remake of the 1980's comedy/horror film, Fright Night, for which we scanned Colin Farrell, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Imogen Poots, and several other members of the cast. In order for the models to match production footage, we scanned each character throughout their "transformations" in various stages of full vampire make-up.
Eyetronics provided 3D model for Image Metrics' tech demo at GDC 2011
For this Faceware tech demo at GDC 2011, Image Metrics had decided to use a 3d model of the same person they would track in their software. The video is in three parts, this being part 1.
